Overview
Tanzania Digital Trade Expo 2022 was a purely digital event that was the first of its kind in Tanzania. It was created by innovation in the SME industry, the technological advancements made in the world especially post Covid-19 era and in the new way of conducting business.
In being part of the solution to the challenges SMEs face in Tanzania, the Digital Trade Expo and its’ engagements with the industry stakeholders including government, private and public sectors will provide relevant, practical elements that SMEs can adopt and explore in today’s business world.
This Digital Trade Expo will present the Tanzanian SME’s to the world by enabling them to showcase, network and engage with various companies, institutions and potential clients across the country, EAC and SADC regions, the continent and the world in real time.
The main aim of the Tanzania Digital Trade Expo is on how to facilitate SMEs find new B2B partnerships through showcasing their goods and services through our digital exhibition platform. This will provide these businesses a chance to explore finance, market and networking opportunities with fellow SMEs in Tanzania and beyond to facilitate their partnerships/growth/exposure.
The Digital Trade Expo seeks to strengthen the link between SME’s and potential clients, financial opportunities, markets and boost connections within Tanzania and across the borders.
Theme: ‘EXPLORING AND DIGITIZING OPPORTUNITIES FOR TANZANIAN SME’S’
Main Objective: ‘To strengthen the linkage between the SME’s and potential clients, financial opportunities, Markets and boost networking within Tanzania and beyond.’
Specific Objectives Include:
- To showcase services and locally produced products to a wider market.
- To network with fellow entrepreneurs and take advantage of available opportunities.

- Enhance their sales by connecting to a broader customer base.
Outcomes
The expo attracted 360 SME’s from across Tanzania from various industries who participated in a virtual exhibition that had a total number of visit of 1028, with an average rating of 4.7% across the virtual booths. There were various topics discussed with most participants engaging mainly panelists on the fostering technologies and financing for SME’s most relevant. There was a session on networking and exhibition where connection mostly happened with five SME’s having paired up with mentors, 80% increased their brand awareness and obtained leads, and 100% reported to have gained new knowledge and made new connections.
